Celebrate International Youth Day by checking out Generationext - live hip hop, free food, art comps and contemporary art rolled into one night and free.Generationext. Talk art. Eat food. Listen to live music. No teachers. No parents. Generationext is a unique, free youth program at the MCA, connecting teenagers with contemporary art and culture through after-hours social events linked to MCA exhibitions. The events are held four to six times a year.
Generationext gives young people aged 12-18 yrs the opportunity to visit the Museum independently after-hours to mix with hundreds of teenagers from across Sydney who love contemporary art. Generationext is organised by the MCA with the assistance of a committee of art-interested volunteer teenagers, who form the generationext Youth Commitee.
Generationext Connectors are volunteer students who ‘spread the word’ to their school peers through conversation and print flyers.

Come down and support the event. The organisers of these events really are doing their best to bring contemporary art forms straight to the community. The more you support them, the more they are going to be able to bring you.
